There is a nice balance of sweet and tart. Be careful when opening the purple skin. The dark red fluid of the scin can stain hands and clothes. The season starts in December. The fruit is covered in soft spines that give it a hairy appearance. The fruit is sold in bunges.

When the fruit is ripe, the skin becomes red and the inside becomes sweet. You can compare the taste of this fruit with the taste of a lychee. Inside the flesh there is a pit to which the flesh clings tightly. This pit is unedible. The flesh itself is very juicy and sweet. Papaya can be found everywhere in Bali and grows all year round. The flesh is orange.

The peel and the black seeds inside are unedible and need to be removed.

The pulp has a very sweet and soft flavor. The locals claim that this fruit can help in case of indigestion or tummy ache. Foreigners, be aware that this fruit can have a laxative effect. I like this fruit a lot with a few drops of lime juice sprinkled over it. A must try!

Bali is a Fruit Lovers Paradise

Banana is a tropical fruit that is found in many countries in the world. However in Bali, bananas come in many varieties. Most varieties are rather small but very sweet. According to the texture of the species, the fruit will be eaten fresh or fried.

The banana plant grows almost everywhere in Bali and dies after it gives fruit. This backyard-grown fruit is widely sold in traditional markets and supermarkets. This citrus fruit has a thick and spongy outer skin. The inside looks like a big orange with big lobes but it is not orange but either pink or white.

The pulp is very juicy. The juice is sweet with a bitter aftertaste.

The fruit can be eaten like an apple, skin and pulp together. The texture is crunchy and the flavor can be compared to a guava. This is a fruit that has the shape and colour of a pear. I love mango, but it seems that it is not available during summer? And what about avocado? I've read some positive comments about avocado and chocolate smoothie. I'd be grateful if you could help me. Greetings, Joanna.

We have so many different types of mangos, with the most popular are Harum Manis, Indramayu, Manalagi, and Gedong Gincu, you will see them in the more upscale supermarket even when they are supposedly out of season. The ultimate tropical fruit may be out of season but they will still have it at some supermarket. Give it a try, sit in front of a blowing fan, hold your breath and taste it with your tongue again and again before you smell it thru your nose.

I was in Thailand and first time I smelled Durian, I almost puke! I went to Starbucks and I saw a delicious mini pastry, it was filled with something I was so hungry and didn't ask with what , I gave it a bite and OMG! It was Durian, I did puke in front of everyone! They sell it everywhere and even like popsicles! I may be allergic.. I am very open with food Actually I did eat a cockroach when in Thailand , but Durian was not for me! Beside avocado and manggo, you should definitely try mangosteen manggis , rambutan, and jackfruit.

Although mangosteen and rambutan has season in oktober till december, out of season they sometimes still available in supermarket. Jackfruit has no season, oh and also dragon fruit. The fruit looks pretty much the same albeit smaller. When you split it the inside looks pretty much the same.

Whenever you have mangosteen in hand. Flip it over, at its bottom there is flower like protrusion. Count it and it will tell you how many wedges the fruit contain. Thanks for advice and information! I'm glad to hear that I'll be able to try so many things. I've just come back from Thailand and the possibility of eating fresh fruit in the middle of the winter was priceless I tried Durian and for me it was just interesting, nothing bizzare, but Jackfruit is really delicious.

However, I've never eaten mangosteen and snake fruit. In addition, could you please write something about fresh coconut juice? I wonder if it as common as for example in Thailand where you can buy it almost everywhere. Fresh coconut is everywhere. Not only on beaches, but also on the streets, restaurants, warungs local eateries ,outside of temples, any place you can think of. These are very common juices in all restaurants after fresh coconut.
